An Envelope of Goodbye

The clock struck twelve. She hopped out of bed, fully clothed and with shoes. She took a bag from off the floor and swung it over her shoulder. She walked slowly towards her bedroom door, trying not to make any noise. She opened the door carefully and peeped her head out to make sure no one was up. No one there, she is good to go. She steps out of the room and quietly shuts the door behind her. Walking as softly as she can, she heads for the front door. Her breath is heavy and her heart beating fast. “Cant believe I’m doing this.” She thought to herself. “Maybe I shouldn’t.” Her mind was wondering as she came to the front door. She stood at it for a moment or two, thinking of her

decision. She nodded her head to herself and reached up and unlocked the door. As she opened it and stepped out of her house she waved to a boy waiting by the fence. She turned around and slipped an envelope through the card slot in the door. She ran over to the boy waiting and gave him a hug. They held each other for a while. “You sure about this?” he asked her. She had tears in her eyes, one rolled down her cheek and he wiped it away with his hand. She nodded and whispered “yes.” He kissed her head, and then took her hand as they walked away into the night. Morning arose, the house was quiet. A lady in a gown emerged from a room, she walked down the hall when she

noticed the envelope on the floor. She went over to it and picked it up. She looked confused. “There’s no stamp” she thought to herself. She opened it up and took out the letter. The letter read:

Dear mum and dad, I am keeping the baby, its going to be a girl. A granddaughter you’ll never know. Goodbye. Sincerely your daughter.
